Firefighter

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Individuals wishing to apply for the eligibility list must successfully meet ALL the following requirements at the time of application:
• U. S. Citizen, conversant in English;

• 18 years of age at the time of application;

• Must present a High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalency;

• Must present documentation that you are certified as an Emergency Medical Technician Cardiac (EMTC) or are currently enrolled in an EMT Cardiac certification course;

*Applicants must have a valid Rhode Island EMT-C license at time of hire and must agree to maintain certification as a condition of employment;

• Physical Performance Assessment (PPA) certification, no more than one (1) year old; administered by the Rhode Island Association of Fire Chiefs. Follow link for further information; https://rifirechiefs.com/ppa-info/

Additional requirements:
New to the eligibility process is the requirement to submit a Firefighter Entry Level Exam Certificate administered by the Rhode Island Association of Fire Chiefs. Follow the link below for information: https://www.rifirechiefs.com/content/test/

NOTE:

Applications will be accepted beginning September 8, 2025 – December 4, 2025 at Noon.

*A swim test will be given to the top qualifying applicants.

Upon being considered for employment you will be required to pass a BCI check and a physical examination by a town appointed physician.
